15 Findings of the TRC HR Violations Committee

• 45 people were killed & 22 severely injured in Boipatong on 17 June 1992 in an attack perpetrated by residents of Kwamadala Hostel. The attack was planned together with the police & police colluded with the attackers, dropping them off in Slovo Park.
• White men with blackened faces participated in the attack. Police failed to intervene to stop the attackers.
• The police destroyed crucial evidence by erasing tapes in the control room of the Internal Stability Unit.
• KwaMadala residents with the SAP including the Commissioner of Police, the Minister of Law and Order & the IFP are found responsible for gross human rights violations.
